I gave this 5 stars because the tool works just as it should.I did return this item, because after utilizing it and edging for a few feet, dirt/mud would collect in the guard surrounding the blade, making it almost impossible to keep going, and I would have to stop and clean it out before I could edge any further. This happened over and over. I could not use it – but it did edge.

Bought the bare tool as a replacement for my failing Ryobi gas edger. Assembled in 5 minutes. Edged my walkway, driveway, and curb in less time than it has been taking me to get that old gas POS started. It did bog down along the side of the driveway where it hadn’t been edged in a while and was recently watered. The 20V just doesn’t have the raw torque/power that the gas edger does. However, the ease of use makes it easy to edge every time I mow, which will keep the channel clear. Under those conditions where the kerf it maintained, this thing sings.Definitely a great update from my old gas unit.

This is a first impression review subject to an update once the machine is actually used.It is based on the instruction booklet supplied and the design of the item.In all the years I have been buying tools I never have come across an instruction booklet so poorly done as the one that came with this item. The English part is 13 pages. The first page is an overall pic of the item with numbers 1-16 applied to various parts. The next two pages are 12 pics, some intelligible, some head scratchers, relating to assembly and usage. Then comes the start of the ‘fun’. Pages 4-13 contain 39 Warnings, 4 Cautions, 2 Dangers, and 2 Notices. Look hard enough and you find that page 10 is where the Assembly info (Which apply to the pics) starts. The additional numbers beyond 16 on page 1 pic that go to 29 are located within the pics on pages 2-3.Most other instruction booklets would put the instructions for the pic under the pic and not make you ‘Hunt & Seek’. This is a pain. The other notable thing is the feel of the machine. I would assume a proper design would be more stable than this one. It wobbles when you roll it on the floor.. This might change when in actual use. Will be noted after actual use.Assembling the pole wasn’t easy, as the wiring was very stiff and wouldn’t easily allow the upper and lower piece to be put together.
