Works great, I cut some very hard to reach branches that were about 6-8” off of my roof. Don’t know how I would have done it without a pole saw. Good battery life too.

I ordered this set after returning a different big box brand(blue) when pole connector cracked in first five minutes. The Dewalt implementation is far easier to align as well as more durable. Even the trigger and handle is better. As others have noted it can be a workout trying to hold the edger at full extention. It does, however, solve the problems I had w large shrubs.

Was a great purchase easy to use, powerful, and battery lasts

I had purchased the combo tool to trim high hedges and small branches. These tools literally saved me hundreds after a storm came three knocking two trees onto my roof. I was able to cut the trees up and bundle the branches for garbage pickup – all because of this powerful and versatile DeWalt combo tool. Come with charger and long-standing lithium ion battery!

Work excellent like my other Dewalt tools

Note: I haven’t yet used the pole saw. This is just reviewing the hedge trimmer part of the kit.Previously I was using a 4.5A corded hedge trimmer, but that was a bit frustratingly unwieldy & limited due to its corded nature. This Dewalt hedge trimmer looks pretty well made. It’s surprisingly light – even with the battery it’s lighter than the corded trimmer I have. And ultimately it does work okay.Battery life – with the included 4Ah battery – is ~50 minutes in continuous, moderate use. Maybe 60 minutes with light use. For me that’s reasonable – after an hour of non-stop use, I don’t mind a break. Recharging the battery seems to take about an hour, maybe a tad more, so if you need practically continuous use, you *might* be able to get away with just one extra 4Ah battery. The battery is happy to start charging immediately after use – no thermal lockout observed, even though the charger’s manual notes that this can occur. So all pretty good so far.I like that the motor – and the head unit in general – is pretty slim and unobtrusive. It makes it easier to get right up against obstructions – even if just the ground – and to operate it at many angles.But.It has one major and one minor flaw that, both, seem to be unforced errors. The biggest is that the cutting blade doesn’t extend all the way to either end, creating areas at the base & end where foliage can snag it. This makes it physically much more tiresome to use the hedge trimmer, since you have to exert significant physical force to push or pull it through these snags. It’s also dangerous – when the blade suddenly leaps free, it can swing wildly around, posing a danger to the operator and anyone or anything around them. The minor flaw is that it has limited torque. It’s noticeably less happy cutting through denser or tougher foliage, than the corded one I have. This doesn’t have to be the case. Lithium ion batteries can deliver huge currents – translating to tremendous torque – if designed to do so (witness the exceptional torque of electric vehicles, for example). This unit seems clearly designed only for quite light use, really. Though, to its credit, it can still get the job done – as long as you’re patient and don’t mind it getting “jammed” occasionally (shutting itself off automatically, likely due to some over-current detection in the battery). There is one other notable ‘flaw’, though it’s more excusable given the realities of designing a unit like this – balance. This hedge trimmer is notably front-heavy. This makes it more tiring to operate than it ideally has to be. However, it’s not a huge imbalance – it might be the case that a bigger, heavier battery would result in a good balance. Even though the overall weight would be greater as a result, the improved balance would likely make it a net win for operator comfort. Alas, it only has the option of a 4Ah battery – an 8Ah or 9Ah, which I estimate might balance better, are available but only sold separately (and are very expensive).Note: that’s all _without_ the extra extension inserted. Thankfully I have no need for that, but undoubtably if you do have to make use of that, this will be *heavily* front-heavy irrespective of what battery is used. But that’s basically unavoidable, really – and this Dewalt unit won’t be noticeably better or worse than any other brand in that regard in such situations.
I’m a muse –
I was really hoping for a 2-1 where the saw portion could be used as a chain saw without the pole. Oh well, haven’t tried the hedge trimmers yet, don’t have anything at the moment (until they grow up).

States you can get up to something like 96 cuts per battery charge is totally incorrect in my case. First time using it I got maybe ten cuts on limbs no bigger than 1″ in diameter. Figured I did not fully charge the battery but on the second useage/charged battery, I may have be able to cut 20 or so limbs. The same amount after the several more charges. Spent more time charging the battery than actually using it. Weight and balance of the saw is ok just look at an consider other options before purchasing. Just did not meet my expectations based off the description and other reviews.
