This was a father’s day gift and little disappointed it did not come with a battery! I realize it says Tool Only but seriously…include a battery! As this is one way to make customers spend more money! Might as well include a charger also which bumps up the price!

It is a great saw for small jobs. It will cut 4 or 5 inch trees but nothing much bigger safely.

Being heavily invested in the DeWalt 20v ecosystem, I really wanted to like this saw. Unfortunately, the 8” chainsaw has some issues.Cons:No D-ring for taking it above ground.Oil port in bar gets clogged easily.Somewhat slow chain speed.Electronics may not be robust (I sent mine back due to an electrical issue)No bar sprocket and no aftermarket support.Left hand use is a total pain due to the trigger safety switch.Chain tensioner is in an annoying place.Suppled chain tensioning tool is not ergonomic at all.Pros:Battery life is excellent!Motor is more powerful than I expected.Quality chain (Oregon brand).Very light weight.

I used this saw with my 60v 6ah batteries, while tree trimming all day and only used 2 of the 60v batteries. I only had to get my bigger saw out for a couple branches and that was only because of the guard at the end of the bar. Would highly recommend this saw to anyone looking for a gas alternative climbing saw for tree trimming. I’ll be returning the 12″ dewalt saw(weight vs this one was a big factor) I bought along with this one and probably just get a 12″ bar for those occasional large branches. Only downside was the safety button being on the left side only, but it wasn’t that had to work around.
