Very nice, lightweight chainsaw that is a perfect back up to a larger gas chainsaw.I had been looking for a small electric chain saw for use in taking down saplings and cutting up small branches to feed my woodchipper without always having to bust out the gas chainsaw. Having a number of Dewalt 20V tools already as well as a number of batteries, this was a no brainer. If you were doing some serious sawing (larger trees, firewood, etc.) then I would stick with a gas saw, but when you are doing a number of small, short cuts (cut a limb, put the saw down, cut a limb, put the saw down, etc.) this saw can’t be beat. So nice not to have to mess with starting the gas saw every five minutes to make one or two small cuts. This fits the bill perfect.I have not used it enough at this point, but it appears as if the procedure to adjust chain tension looks very easy and does not require any additional tools, which is also a nice plus.I also have not used it enough to test the battery life, but my guess is that with a 5Ah battery or higher, it will work long enough to justify. If you are doing a lot of sawing, go to the gas saw.My only regret is not purchasing this saw sooner. I had been watching them for quite some time but kept waiting for them to go on sale. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

I had to cut down two ~30 foot trees after one split in half and damaged the other one. I set to work with this and an axe and in a weekend was able to process both trees into piles of branches and stacks of firewood. The battery lasts about as long as you’d want to work without taking a break (hours of use), if you have other DeWalt tools your battery packs will work with this so and your other tools which is a huge plus. The saw might be on the smaller size but it was able to get through everything without issue but the base of trunk of the tree, which I pulled with a chain and truck anyway.Perfect Size to take camping if you need to harvest firewood or clear smaller deadfall.Only complaint, the bar chain oil reservoir is stupidly small and this thing spits oil so keep any eye on it.

I was a bit skeptical regarding battery operated chainsaws – honestly I thought this would be under-powered having a previous crappy experience with Dewalt’s 18v 6.25in circular saw. I decided on this unit after being very pleasantly surprised by the line trimmer and being quite happy with Dewalt’s 20v line of tools. I purchased this saw after reading reviews and deciding to further my commitment to Dewalt (for context, I have about a dozen 18v tools that I began purchasing since they’re inception – was a GC back in the late 90’s and went with Dewalt so the batteries were interchangeable with the various contractors at job sites).Regarding Dewalt’s 20v line, it’s a marked improvement over their 18v tools – the batteries just last longer, are in general less bulky (they run from 1ah to 10 or 15ah depending on the battery type) as you can use a battery appropriate for a job (for light work use the smaller batteries, for heavier the larger). I’ve only had a problem with one battery that won’t charge properly that I wished I had sent back (it was pat of DCA2203C- two 20ah batteries, a charger and adapter). Unfortunately I’ve misplaced the battery so no recourse (buried somewhere in my basement. As an aside, if you buy a battery adapter you can use the new batteries on older equipment – makes them last a bit longer – I’ve slowly been swapping out as the older equipment dies (all the old batteries are completely dead and it’s not worthwhile to have them rebuilt).About the line-trimmer – my property is a 1/2 acre wooded lot with about 40 large hardwood trees and only a couple of strips of grass along the edges and the back “yard” – I tried various line trimmers and the mix-fuel versions are frankly just not worth the trouble – the corded trimmers too much of a pain. The Dewalt DCST925B works quite well for my needs – a single battery is more than enough for most trimming with a second needed if I’m also edging (I’ve got about 120 feet of sidewalk on one side of the corner lot. In any case this led to me thinking about replacing my chainsaw – it was an 18″ Stihl Farm Boss that frankly was overkill for the number of times I needed it. I ended up getting the bar jammed up in a log and decided that I had enough. 95% of the time a 12 inch bar was plenty – I had also read some reviews about upgrading the bar to a 16″ using aftermarket parts so there are options if I need bigger capacity. The DCCS620 is fairly lightweight and super simple to use – it also cuts out when the trigger is released so much safer than gas powered. It’s light enough that it can be used one-handed (if you have the grip strength) but I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s safer and easier to control with two. There’s also a chain break across the top to cover accidents on the plunge. The only negative, which I was aware of going in, is that it leaks bar chain oil a bit – not enough to drain the reservoir but enough to be annoying – I put the whole thing in a plastic shopping bag when not in use. I mostly use it to cut fallen limbs – these mostly don’t exceed 12″ in diameter but on the occasion I’ve had to reposition the saw to get through them. When making a lot of cuts I’ve had to change out the battery, but really it’s what I expected for this type of saw. In all, a great battery powered chainsaw.

from Willyone on July 7, 2023Works as it shouldI just used my chainsaw for the 1st time today to cut a 6 inch limb from an oak tree. Saw did the job well. But there are a few things I would mention. 1st, sometimes it “chatters” a bit when first engaging the limb. I expect that’s likely due to the blade spinning… (continued) slower than a gas chainsaw. Also, it seems to go thru a lot of chain oil, so keep a bottle handy. My 7/7/23 addendum (repeated today 7/14) … I set the chainsaw aside and went in for lunch. I returned about an hour later and the saw was dead, wouldn’t run. I tried a couple of other freshly charged 20V DeWalt batteries and still wouldn’t run. So I contacted the supplier and they agreed to replace the chainsaw. They emailed a prepaid return label to me and I sent the saw off to them. Very good customer service!! I hope to get the replacement saw soon. For the record… I received an email from Amazon today (7/14) advising me that they would not post my original 7/7/23 review because of one of the reasons, which I have listed below (cut/pasted from the Amazon email);• Profanity• Harassment• Hate speech• Sexual content• Illegal activity• Private informationI have no idea which of the above listed I am accused of using or saying in my original 7/7 review as the Amazon email did not specify. It could be that Amazon is using AI to screen reviews and AI took what I said wrong? Did I hurt AI’s feelings? LOL. Regardless, this review may get rejected as well, so there’s that.Maybe an Amazon rep could contact me and tell me exactly what I did/said that was so wrong.Anyways, the DeWalt supplier CPO, is stepping up to the plate and I appreciate that.

Worth. Every. Dollar.I was skeptical at first but boy was I wrong. It lasts a while(haven’t gone through the first battery yet).It cuts just like a gas powered, just a bit slower(which I knew already) but it is still fast and strong. It is just small enough to be used one handed if you really have to reach far or hold your peice to cut at the same time.I thought it would look and feel like a toy but it is very well built and feels just like “the real thing”.This size may not be fit for felling trees but for trimming branches and cleaning around your yard, it is a must have!
